Chapter One

The alarm clock was going off as if Leila was at a dock and a foghorn was going off. She hit the snooze button for the ninth time this evening. It was only 7 p.m. She could get away with another hour of sleep. Eric wasn’t home yet so maybe two hours. She rolled over and found her notebook.

It read: meet Kelly @ his place @ 8. he needs to talk to me.

Shit!” Leila shot out of bed and she put on her Dope shirt and her Tripp NYC pants.

She her hair fall around her face. It was jet black with white chunks in the front.

She thought to herself I can’t believe it was only two years ago I was human. I need a hair cut….. Maybe I’ll die it.

She snapped out of it and went over to Kelly’s. She range the door bell. Kelly come on man it’s eight. He answered the door.

Kelly’s dark brown hair was flat not spiked today and you couldn’t tell he just buzzed sides, “Hey, I thought you forgot about coming over.”

“Can I come in?”

“Oh yeah, Sorry I just got up,” Kelly let her in.

“So did I,” Leila sat on the futon.

“Uhh .. Umm,” Kelly rubbed the back of his neck.

“Yeah Kelly?” Leila laid down on the futon.

“lets watch a movie wile I think of how to word what I want to say,” He put in a movie.

They watched SLC Punk with Kelly in the corner of the futon with his arm on Leila’s chest. Her head was on his chest and her arm was on his waist. They were so comfy that they almost fell asleep. That’s if the phone hadn’t of rang.

“Hello?” Kelly sat up. Leila sat up and leaned on his shoulder. Kelly got up and went to the kitchen. Leila headed for the bathroom.

“Yeah she’s here. Why?” Leila went in to the bathroom. “Okay I’ll tell her,” He hung up the phone.

Kelly just wondered into the bathroom. Luckily Leila wasn’t going piss. She was washing her face. Kelly took off his shirt and wrapped his arms around her waist.

“Who was that?” Leila dried her face.

“It was Adair. He may have found a lead on where you parents are,” Leila laid her head on his chest

“I‘ll go over there in a few. Now why did you want me over here really?”

“Well you and Blake….”

She turned around, “No.” Then she shadowed out.

“Nice try there buddy. She not going to date you,” Orin was standing in the door way.

“What are you doing here?” Kelly grabbed his shirt and put it on.

“Nothing I just wanted to see you and Leila. I know you really like her,” Orin put his arm around Kelly’s neck.

“I don’t care about a half blood,” Kelly pulled away while pulling a blade from his pocket.

“Oh you don’t. Is that why you saved Leila twice and hurried her awakening along?” Orin was backing away.

“If you say one more thing about Leila I swear I will have your head Alex Smoke.”

Orin turned red with fury and shadowed.

Kelly was left alone in the darkness of his place again. He sat in silence then got changed and went to band practice.

Chapter Two

Leila could feel the pain in the child’s mind. The blood was sweet with fear. It flowed into her mouth like a water fall. Her arm was around the boys waist and her hand was on the back of his neck so that he didn’t fall. Gently she set him down on the bed. The boy barely had any blood left in him. His helpless eyes gazed at her. Leila pulled

away from his grip and pricked her finger. Then she let two drops fall on his wound as to not be detected.

She brought her self over to Adair’s house. He was playing G.T.A. He Didn’t realize she had come over. Leila studied him for a few. She had known him for three years and yet hadn’t figured him out.

“Adair,” she scared him, “What‘s up?”

“Nothing right now. Oh, umm. The last place the guy I talked to had seen you mother was a year ago in Bozeman Montana. I know, that’s a ways back but,” he shut off the play station and cleared the couch.

“It’s okay Adair. I didn‘t expect you to find her exact location,” Leila wanted to know if he had parents the were vampyres, “Adair, were you ever know your parents?”

Adair said nothing but stared into space. Finally he said something, “ I knew my mother. She was a human. She left my father when I young I figure she didn’t want me to know I was a vampyre.”

“So you’re a half blood right?” Once again he said nothing. “I was just wondering because my cousin’s a day walker and so are you and he’s a half blood.”

“So does that mean you walk at day, because you’re a half blood too. ?” Adair looked at the T.V.

“No, I walk at night unfortunately,” Adair interrupted her. “Unfortunately! I would love to be a night vamp only,” Adair looked at her in the eyes. “You don’t know what it’s like. I have human friends but I can’t tell them about being a vampyre. I can’t love anyone human which is really hard. Oh, and yes I am a half blood.”

“Feel better?“ Leila got up and gave him hug. “Thanks for the help.”

“No problem. Thanks for letting me vent,” Adair sounded annoyed. He walked into the other room.

Leila wanted to say sorry or at least say goodbye, but she didn’t.

She brought her self to a night club. She could smell the vibe in the whole club. Suddenly her mind was being held by another vampyre.

“So you were spying on me,” Orin was by her side in the blink of an eye. He slammed her against the wall almost collapsing her wind pipe. “What are you doing here half blood?”

Leila kicked his stomach so that he would fall back. Before Leila had the chance to shadow out, but Orin had control of her mind again.

“Let me go you…” her words were interrupted by a sharp pain in her neck. She dropped to the floor. Orin let go of her mind and shadowed out.

She didn’t know where to go. So she went to her car in front of Kelly’s place. Leila drove around to clear her mind.

                              Chapter Three

“Kelly get your act together man. What’s up with you?” Smitty looked at him.

Smitty’s red eyes were burning into Kelly’s mind to find anything.

“I don’t know man. I’m just a little off tonight. I’ll be fine,” Kelly sat down on the drum lift.
“Does this I’m- a-little-off-tonight have anything to do with Leila?” Smitty joked and put his arm around Kelly‘s waist..

“Nah,” Kelly paused. “She… She was at

my house again this evening and she acted as though she wanted to hook up but…”

“Kelly go home and clear you head. The band needs to rest anyway.” Smitty kissed his cheek.

“Okay, I’ll see you tomorrow about this same time?”

“Yeah, now what do you say for me canceling practice?”

“I love you Smitty,” The gave each other a peck on the lips and Kelly walked home.

He heard a voice behind him, “Don’t worry I fell for her to Kelly.”

“Oh, hey Blake,” Kelly waited for him to catch up, “Wait why are you fallowing me?”

“I saw Orin and Leila fighting. It looked as if Orin was shocked to see Leila fall to the ground,” Blake kicked some leaves on the grass.

“I knew I should have fallowed her.” Kelly’s face went red.

“Orin didn’t hurt her too bad, nothing she cant heal,” Blake said, “Kelly I know you want to protect her and love her, I thank you much for that, but there’s a lot of vampyres after her because of what her parents did to the vampire kind.”

“I know but …,” Blake shadowed, Kelly got pissed because he couldn’t think straight.

Leila went back home too find something wasn’t right. She pulled a blade from her glove compartment. Her granddaddy gave it to her when she was 10. He said it was pure silver blade and in side the oak handle was holey water. It will kill any vampyre. At the time she didn’t believe in vampyres though.

She headed up toward the stairs and burst in the front door. Orin had her cousin on the floor about to slit his throat when eh turned around.

“You just don’t give up do you?” Orin turned back to her cousin. Leila jumped on Orin’s back trying to strangle him. He ran backwards to the wall smashing Leila against it. She screamed in pain, he broke two of her ribs. They jabbed into her insides. Leila stabbed the back of Orin’s neck. Blood poured everywhere from both of them.

“I’ll be back to get you,” Orin yelled and then shadowed out.

Eric ran over to Leila, “You aren’t having any luck are you?”

“Shut up Eric,” Leila was breathing hard. Her chest hurt every time she took a breath. It took her about two minutes to heel. Although it seemed like and entirety.

“Orin asked me if I knew where you were.”

“You said no right?” Leila was getting up from the blood covered floor.

“Not exactly. I said you were with Kelly,” Eric wiped some of the blood up from the ground.

“Don’t eat that,” Kelly walked in to the house.

“Kelly.” Leila looked at him in shock.

“I saw it all… I think,” he walked over to Eric. “If you drink pure blood you’ll die in forty-eight hours.”

Eric wiped it on his pants like a little kid who just got in trouble.

“Come on we have to get out of here,” Leila went out side.

“Lets go to my place we’ll be safe there,” Kelly looked into space. His eyes full of anger yet they looked so soft like Adair’s. He shadowed with the others.

When they got there Adair was in the kitchen and got a dirty look from Kelly, “What? I was out of ketchup.”

“Eric, go get some blades from the house,” Leila opened the closet door and took down the box on the self. She opened it up, “WHOA! Wrong box.” she put It back and sat down. Kelly look embarrassed.

Eric was back in an instant, “Well what now?” Adair sat on the futon which was folded into a couch.

“Now, you could let me kill Leila or you could do it for me,” Orin appeared by the front door. Adair and Eric shadowed out side the house. Leila fallowed.

“Where did she go Kelly?” Orin was stalking Kelly like a cat with a mouse. “If you let me kill her all stress will be gone.”

“I don’t know,” Kelly glanced at the blades.

“Yes you do. Now quit trying to hide her and let me kill her.” Orin lunged at him.

Chapter Four

Leila was worried about Kelly, “What if he dies… Or what if…”

“Sshh He’ll be okay,” Adair pulled her into a hug. She shadowed back.

“I‘m right here Orin. Leave him alone!” She tackled Orin. Kelly tossed her a dagger. She cut his throat. He disintegrated.

“I could have done that,” Kelly looked at her.

Her hair was all messy and greasy from stress.

“No you couldn’t have,” She shadowed.

Kelly punched the wall. He could have told her how he really felt about her. Leila fainted as soon as Kelly walked out of the house. She hit her head on the stairs. Adair carried her to Kelly’s room. Kelly covered her in his in his black down comforter.

“Good luck man,” Adair and Kelly slapped hands and pulled into a hug.

“What if she doesn’t wake up man?” Kelly was thinking if she didn’t wake up what would he do? She was the only human and vampire to put her life on the line for him. His eyes got all teary thinking about it.

“She will man. Don’t worry,” Adair looked at her. She looked really bad. She looked nothing like a vampyre. Her skin gray like a cloudy sky and her lips were a baby pink not blood red like usual.

Adair couldn’t look at her any longer, he left.

Kelly went to the kitchen to grab a beer and on the way back he grabbed Leila’s knife. He sat at the bed side crying and pleading that she didn’t die.

Leila had a dream, which is very unusual for vampyres. It was about everyone turning on her. Then in the end she gets stabbed by some one. This jerked her out of sleep and in to the living room.

“Kelly what the hell happened?”

Kelly’s voice was weak and quiet, “You killed Orin and saved me. Then you hit your head on my front steps. Adair carried you into my room and I covered you up. Then I..” his voice trailed off

Leila walked into the bathroom. There was blood every were, “ Kelly?” she walked out. “Are you okay?”

He was in his boxers lying on his back looking at the ceiling. He had blood on his chest and arms, “No. I was so scared that you wouldn’t wake up that I slit my wrist and let them bleed so if you died we‘d be together.”

Leila ran over and held him for a wile stroking his hair and crying. She rocked him back and forth then got some pillows and laid his head down.

“You stay here and don’t get up,” she kissed his cheek, “ I love you Kelly. Don’t die on me.”

She shadowed over to Adair house, “Kelly slit his wrists because he thought I wouldn’t wake up,” she looked at Adair with pleading eyes. “Please help him Adair.”

Adair shadowed over to Kelly’s to show that he would help him. Kelly had passed out.

“He lost too much blood,” Adair look around frantically to find a blade. He found Leila’s knife covered in Kelly’s blood. He knew that if he use it he might die but he had to.

“Kelly wake up. Adair’s here to help you,” Leila shook him lightly.

Adair slit his wrist. He put it up to Kelly’s mouth. Kelly sunk his fangs into it. Adair clinched his teeth to keep from screaming. Leila couldn’t bare to watch so she turned and covered her ears.

“Kelly that’s enough,” Adair heeled him self.

Leila sat by Kelly’s side. He was still weak but that could be heeled by sleep. Adair was staring at her. She could feel it so she looked up at him and flipped him off.

“I’m glad your sense of humor isn’t gone,” Kelly laughed but it was only a wheeze, “That hurt,” he held a fist to his chest.

“Give it a week and you should be back to normal,” Adair picked up the blade and saw the blood was making a purplish color. “How long do you think I have to live?”

“What color?”

“Purplish,” Adair was still looking at the blade.

“Twenty-four,” Kelly tried to get up but fell back down.

“How do I live?”

Leila gestured to Kelly to lay down with her, “You have to drink another half bloods blood,” Kelly looked for his pants while laying down.

Chapter Five

As soon as Adair got to the counter the clerk burst into flames. He jumped and then a man came from behind the door with a beautiful young woman who looked to be about 18.

“How may I help you?” She asked.

“Are you a half blood?” Adair shifted his weight to his right foot.

“Yes why do you ask?”

“Can I take you on a date?”

“Pardon me?” she sounded surprised.

“I want to take you on a date,” Adair looked in her mind and per swayed her to say yes. He went back to the van.

“So did you get it?”

“Sort of,” Adair look at Kelly who was sleeping on the floor again.

“What does that mean?” Leila head toward Kelly’s house.

“I have a ‘bloody’ date,” Adair had a cheesy smile.

“Oh so you’re going to bait her in and then kill her right?” Leila took a sharp turn that woke Kelly up.

“Yeah it’s at two,” Adair looked back at Kelly.

“What is?” Kelly sat up but was knocked back down by another turn.

“Don’t sit up Kelly and Adair has a ‘bloody’ date has he puts it,” Leila informed Kelly.

“WTF?” Kelly looked at Adair. “You can’t have a date? You’re going to die.”

“Nope. My dates with a half blood,” Kelly’ just shook his head.

They got to Adair’s house and dropped him off. Then it was off to “Spells And Meds”.

“What can we get to help speed up the process of heeling in a vampire?” said Leila.

“There’s some stuff over by the potions.”

Kelly was staggering over with Leila helping so he didn’t fall.

“Sit down Kelly before you break something,” Leila pointed to a chair.

“I was on my way over there. I’m a big boy you know.”

Kelly propped his leg on the arm of the chair and fell asleep again.

Leila rolled her eyes and started to search the aisle for anything to help. A strange man walked up to her, “What are you looking for ma’am?”

“Something to help me friend heal faster,” Leila looked at Kelly.

The man grabbed a bottle that’s said ‘Qwik Healing For Night Creatures’. He gave it to Leila and walked off.

Leila read the back. For healing usage only. Not recommended for Pixies, Fairies or Gnomes. She grabbed another bottle and went for the counter. Leila was about to walk out when the clerk said she had forgotten something. She looked back, she forgot Kelly. She ran back into the store and woke him up.

“What the hell! What are you doing woman?” Kelly didn’t realize he was still in the store.

“Sorry all forgot I was in the store go about your business.” They left embarrassed.
